Scot Ranney
Brainstorming. Troubleshooting. Creative solutions to every day problems. I'm often the guy friends call when they can't get something to work because I always seems to come up with ways of getting it done.
I've been working on web and internet related issues since the BBS (Bulletin Board System) days in the 80's when people used the phone line so their computers could call other computers. Ever see War Games? If you have, you get the picture. Nice movie.
What does all that mean? It means that I've seen the internet grow from the usenet at universities to what we have today, and during all that I've been in the middle of it all, keeping up with the new technology and opportunities it brings, because next to skiing and playing piano, web work is a passion.
I went to school for music and spend all my time either playing piano, riding my bike, or messing with computers. I might have been the very first word processing tutor my university ever had. You aren't talking to an engineer when you work with me, I'm someone with a good aesthetic sense, someone who understands that the real world needs things that are usable, friendly, and stylish.
After I'm finished helping you get started, updating your site, or training you in how to use the tools to maintain your site, you will have gained knowledge and something you can manage. All good websites, and other public oriented presentations, have something in common: they function well and they are easy to maintain. These are rules that I live by in the world wide web.
Don't be left behind. If you don't know how to accept money, sell things, and interact with people online, other people are going to pass you up and your niche will get smaller. Use Paypal, CSS, HTML, javascript, Jquery, and other languages and tools that are out there are waiting to give your website what it needs to ride the wave of the future.
